Even though I love to cook, I also appreciate convenience. This is especially true during the week, when my fiancé and I are often too tired to cook anything all that exciting after commuting to and from our respective offices. This means that we keep the same simple meals on repeat. They’re delicious, don’t get me wrong. But sometimes I want to change it up. For us, this usually means that we’re pulling out our phones and ordering takeout.

Thankfully, there’s another option that will allow us diversity in our weeknight dinners without ordering out so much. And that is a meal service. There are a number of meal services available, but right now, CookUnity is offering a discount that means we can get tasty, easy-to-prepare meals for less! This chef-forward meal service is loved by our editors for a number of reasons, including that you don’t really have to prepare anything. Just heat it, and dinner is served! I don’t know about you, but that’s the kind of ease I’m looking for.

What Is the CookUnity Meal Service?

CookUnity’s meal service is perfect for foodies who are short on time. The brand’s subscription offers hundreds of dishes made by chefs, so you can trust you’re getting something absolutely delicious every time. The service also offers a lot of customization. When you get started, you’ll let them know what your dietary preferences are, what your allergies are, what proteins you like (if any), and of course, how many meals you want every week. You can choose from five options between four and 16. And this is where the discount comes in. Right now, you can get 50% off that first week of meals, making it pretty low-stakes to try out if you’ve been wanting some easy dinner options this new year. Not to mention, you won’t even have to pay full price for the first month, since for three weeks after that you’ll get a 10% discount!

As I mentioned before, our team also loves CookUnity’s meal service. Contributor Lizzy tested the meals out last winter, summing up her experience writing: “At the end of my week eating CookUnity meals for dinner, I was impressed by the quality of the ingredients, the diversity of flavors, and the convenience of the service. It’s on the pricier side of meal kit options (which means you should definitely take advantage of any promos), but I felt that I was able to sample creative, high-quality dishes from around the world without having to compete for a restaurant reservation or pay takeout delivery fees.”

She’s not the only one who loves it, though. Shopping Writer Nikol tried out CookUnity’s collab with Tasty last fall. Like Lizzy, she also found this service convenient with a nice variety of meal options. “Every meal I tried I was able to prepare on the stove or in the oven in no more than 15 minutes. The dishes all varied, both from one another and in terms of their ingredients and flavor profiles,” she wrote in her review. “When I usually stop to eat between tasks and meetings, I prepare the same boring instant noodles or grab a cheese sandwich from the corner store. Afterward, I feel tired and sluggish. The relatively nutritious CookUnity meals were a welcome change, and making them didn’t take up a significant chunk of my time.”

If you’re concerned about this subscription becoming too much of a commitment, though, no need! You have full control here, so if you need to pass on a given week or pause for a bit, you totally can. And what better time to try out all these delectable dishes — from Meena Sreenivas’ Blackened Shrimp & Cheesy Grits with Hot Honey Sauce to  Larry and Marc Forgione’s Creamy Vegetable Risotto with Whipped Ricotta — than while you can get them at a discount?
