It’s Kitchn’s Week Off!People
Happy Sunday, and welcome to Kitchn’s Week Off, our first-ever collective staff vacation. While we have generous individual paid time off here at Apartment Therapy Media, I’ve been reflecting for a long time on how the work of digital media — especially when you write about food, which we live with every day in our own kitchens — is tough to shut off. Even when you feel like you should be taking a break, it can feel hard to completely disconnect.

It seems to have been a hard winter for many, a challenging time to eat well; yet of course the tough times are when we need nourishment the most.

April is a month where I don’t quite know what I want or what I’m doing in the kitchen; is it spring? Is it winter? Why do I still have a cold? Where’s the asparagus? April is a month where I at least (and maybe you?) need a fresh start, a jolt of inspiration. I had one very significant experience at the beginning of the month that I have been thinking about every day since; can I share it with you?
