Words of Joy: On Ice Cream and Cardio
We’re not the best at math (unless it’s figuring out how many cups of chocolate chips need to go into a batter: all of them!), but this is one mathematical diagram we not only understand, but also 100 percent agree with. It’s basically more true than the idea that 1 + 1 = 2. You can print it out (for free!) and hang it up in your kitchen, office, or even your home gym (if you have one of those … ). We knew Venn diagrams must be good for something!

The First Thing You Should Always Do When Making Ice Cream
I remember the very first time I took my ice cream maker for a spin. I was giddy with excitement at the prospect of finally making my favorite dessert from scratch. I ever-so-carefully heated, whisked, and stirred the base. I chilled it, just the way the recipe called for, and then I hit a roadblock that completely derailed my ice cream dreams (at least for that day). There was one simple step that I completely overlooked: I forgot to put the ice cream bowl in the freezer ahead of time.

Are You the Kind of Cook Who Keeps a Bag of Bones in the Freezer?
As we head into soup season (otherwise known as fall and winter), I believe we are divided into two camps of home cooks: those who keep a bag of bones in the freezer and those who don’t (yet!). What Are Your Favorite Combinations of Ice Cream Flavors?
There’s only one thing better than a scoop of homemade ice cream, and that’s two scoops. Maybe three. Especially when the flavors mix, mingle, and take each other to new heights of tasty. There are certainly classic combinations, like chocolate and peanut butter, but what’s your favorite? How do you stack your ice cream cone? I’m spoiled, given that I live in the heart of ice cream country.

Recipe: Easy Bourbon Peach Sorbet
Bourbon and peaches were made for each other, and not just in cocktail form. Here’s a grown-up sorbet that marries golden peaches with the vanilla and caramel notes of bourbon — it’s a bowl of cool refreshment and warm summer sunshine all at the same time. And you don’t even need an ice cream maker to make it. I call this grown-up sorbet not only because of the booze, but also because it isn’t overly sweet.

Summer Recipe: Peach Pie Ice Cream
I’m usually a traditionalist when it comes to pie. For example, there is no need to mess with the greatness that is a slice of warm peach pie topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. But ice cream is a different matter. With ice cream, I believe in experimentation, being adventurous, and putting chunks of buttery pie crust into a peach-rippled ice cream so that it tastes like you are eating a slice of summer pie. The crust chunks are key.

Recipe: Roasted Grape Granita & Red Wine
One of my favorite simple snacks to make is roasted grapes. The roasting process really brings out all the natural sweetness and the warmth and tenderness of the red orbs just melt in your mouth. I usually set them out with a charcuterie or a cheese plate, but this time around I decided to do something else with them. What if I made a granita with this roasted goodness? What if I enjoyed that granita with a bottle of red wine?

Drink Recipe: Cappuccino-Chip Frappe
Southern temperatures have been breaking records right and left—this past week it reached 106 degrees in Atlanta almost every single day! The heat and humidity combo have been leaving me physically drained, but just because it’s so hot doesn’t mean I can’t get my daily caffeine fix.Usually I follow a rigid morning coffee routine: I whip up a homemade mocha using Valrhona cocoa powder and frothy 2% milk every. single. day.

Boozy Popsicle Recipe: Pinot Noir-Infused Blackberry Ice Pops
People are forever asking what’s my favorite wine. For me it could be about the occasion or what I’m eating but mostly it’s about the weather. I change my wine like my wardrobe. If it’s cold I crave a big chewy red and if it’s hot I only want chilly whites. Sometimes with the change of seasons I’m not always ready to completely switch. For instance, lately I’ve been really enjoying light Pinot Noirs.
