The Absolute Best Way to Upcycle Those Plastic Creamer Containers
One of the best ways to avoid throwing something in the trash is, of course, to repurpose it. As you probably already know, we’re actually big fans of repurposing, and over the last few months, we’ve shared all kinds of creative ideas for upcycling Parmesan cheese containers, plastic takeout spoons, and even berry bins. And, if you’re a regular coffee drinker, today’s handy recycling tip is for you.
See, we’ve come up with a pretty smart idea for reusing those plastic creamer containers. Ready? Grab a mug full of coffee, and cozy up to your computer (or your phone or your iPad!) and keep reading to find out what we have in mind.
Use your empty plastic coffee creamer containers to store dry goods.
You don’t have to spend money on a new, expensive set of storage jars to organize your pantry. Instead, you can easily repurpose your empty plastic creamer containers! Here’s why we love this idea: First off, depending on the brand (we used Coffee-mate), it’s fairly easy to slip off the label to reveal a nice, clear container. This makes it easy to see what you have at a glance! Second, it already has a convenient dispensing cap. So there’s no need to twist open a jar lid or struggle with a latch.
Once you use every last bit of creamer, simply wash out the container thoroughly, and let it dry. Then, decant your most-used dry goods (think: flour, rolled oats, breadcrumbs, rice, cereal, dry beans, sugar, and more!) into your new, repurposed storage system. The more coffee you drink, the more storage containers you’ll end up with! Just be sure to choose ingredients you use often, and don’t forget to add a label and the expiration date to keep tabs on freshness.
