6 Clothing Stores with Surprisingly Cool Kitchen Essentials
My latest obsession? Browsing some of the clothing stores I’ve shopped at for ages in search of adorable home and kitchen goods. I never thought I’d be purchasing apartment-friendly items from my favorite high school mall spot (oh, hi, Forever 21!), but the fast-fashion retailer — along with other spots like Urban Outfitters, H&M, and Nordstrom — actually has some great finds! Even better? Many of these retailers are running massive sales right now (Nordstrom’s epic Anniversary Sale kicks off today, July 19, FYI!), so you can score some amazingly affordable deals as we speak. Check out our favorite places to shop and some awesome kitchen items we found below, then prepare to view your neighborhood shopping mall in a whole new light.
We’ll just say it: We love Anthropologie’s home section, which features chic decor and pretty awesome kitchen essentials, including dinnerware, glassware, serveware, and storage solutions like Stasher snack bags and sandwich bags. Here are some of our personal favorites.
Made of decaled stoneware, these chic plates are inspired by French bistro tile work. The collection also includes the popular Tiled Margot Mug, which is monogrammed for a personal touch.
These sturdy plastic bowls are great for storing leftovers or toting lunch to work. The snap-tight strap means you won’t have to worry about leaks and spills while toting them in your bag.
Urban Outfitters is the ultimate boho-chic destination, and that’s reflected in their home offerings, which includes affordable, eclectic furniture, rugs, bedding, bath, and kitchen essentials that instantly add character to your space. See what we mean below.
These stylish ceramic bowls are great for serving soups, cereal, and other small bites. They can be used for meal prep and are dishwasher-safe, but should not be used in the microwave.
Add zest to your breakfast table, barbecue, or cocktail party with these vintage-inspired glasses, which feature Urban’s popular Allover Fruit pattern.
3. Forever 21
The retailer is known for their affordable and trendy clothing (they’re a staple of festival season!), but they also have quite an impressive home and kitchen section that includes iridescent rainbow Moscow Mule mugs, an orange-slice ice cube mold, and an avocado-graphic lunch container. Here are two more of our favorite finds.
Cat Ceramic Mug, $5
Here, kit-tea, kit-tea (sorry, we had to!). With its cute feline face and ears, this mug is a must for self-proclaimed cat ladies or anyone who needs an extra bit of cheer when drinking their morning coffee.
Yes, please! Stash leftovers, opened packaging, candy, and more in this adorable canister with gold metallic writing.
4. Nordstrom
Most people turn to Nordstrom for the latest in designer clothing as well as their exclusive collaborations with style influencers, but the retailer, whose legendary Anniversary Sale kicks off July 19, has a wide selection of equally covetable home goods (like Nordstrom Home and Anthropologie) and kitchen items (yes, Le Creuset and All-Clad!). Here are some kitchen finds we have our eye on.
Whether you’re using it to serve guests or displaying it on your counter, this colorful tray makes an eye-catching addition to any kitchen.
Nordstrom at Home Wine Rack, $30 (normally $49)
An elegant gold-tone wine rack displays bottles beautifully while also keeping them organized. Win, win!
5. L.L.Bean
When you think of L.L.Bean, you probably think of outdoor clothing. But they actually carry a wide range of quality home items for every area of your indoor space, including a coffee pot and vacuum-sealed crock for the kitchen, plus these finds below.
Making ice cream has never been easier. Just roll and shake the ball, and you’re on your way to the perfect pint.
Who needs a Keurig? Go old-school with this stainless steel percolator, which can be used on the stovetop or over a campfire to brew six perfect cups of coffee.
6. H&M
It’s where you go to get the latest looks for less, but H&M has a home selection that deserves a closer inspection, because it includes everything for your bed, bath, and beyond (and by that we mean your living room and kitchen). Tablecloths, cookware, servingware — it’s all here and at prices that can’t be beat.
Metal Salad Servers, $13
Salad suddenly feels very fancy when served with this gold-colored stainless steel set, which also comes in black and silver colors.
Stoneware Teapot, $30
Unwind with a cup of chamomile poured from this stoneware pot, which lends a calming vibe to teatime with its muted turquoise color.
