Spicy chips and salty crackers definitely have their place in my snacking repertoire, but sometimes I crave a crispy snack that’s not quite so savory. That’s where cinnamon comes in. Any snack with cinnamon will inevitably be paired with something on the sweet side, like honey, sugar, or fruit. Cinnamon can also play along well with nutty, salty, flavors, too, resulting in snacks that are barely sweetened — just enough to take the edge off a sugar craving without giving in completely. To sum things up, cinnamon-flavored snacks are great!

I recently went on a hunt through the grocery stores in my city, looking for the best crispy, crunchy, cinnamon-y snacks, and found a few surprises. I tried to limit my search to the chip and cracker aisle, as that’s where I knew I’d find the crunchiest contenders. I skipped the cookies, granola bars, and energy bars because they’re a bit too obvious, and also tend to be a bit too sweet.

After crunching and munching my way through the finds, here are the ones that I know I’ll be putting in my shopping cart again.

1. Trader Joe’s Apple Cinnamon Snack Sticks, $2.50 for six ounces

If you, like me, harbor a fondness for those gone-but-not-forgotten McDonald’s fried apple pies, you will love these light, airy, and super-crispy gluten-free apple-cinnamon sticks made with corn and rice flours. Apple purée and apple flavoring give them a wallop of candy-apple flavor, with plenty of warm cinnamon and a touch of coconut oil to lend fried pie vibes. They’re way more virtuous, though, with just 4 grams of sugar and 7 grams of fat per 38-stick serving.

2. Organic Apple Cinnamon Crunchy Rice Rollers, $4 for 2.6 ounces at Walmart

The deeply toasty brown rice flavor combined with tart bits of freeze-dried apples make these crispy puffed rice logs extremely hard to put down. The flavor and texture is reminiscent of Honey Smacks cereal, but with burst of apple and not as much sugar. They’re organic, vegan, gluten-free, and “School Safe Allergen Free.” They’re also really freaking delicious.

3. Bare Cinnamon Apple Chips, $4.50 for 3.4 ounces at Walmart

This crispy snack is as simple as it gets: just baked dried apples and cinnamon. And Bare gets the texture and flavor just right. The apples are really light and crisp, not hard and pokey, and the dusting of cinnamon doesn’t overwhelm. I also tried the cinnamon banana chips, but the texture was much harder and the flavor seemed slightly burnt. However, both were delicious when dipped in Snickerdoodle Nut Butter, which I wanted to include on this list but it’s only available online, so it doesn’t meet the criteria.

4. Skinny Pop Puffs Cinnamon & Sugar, $3 for 4.2 ounces

These light-as-air puffs look like Cheetos, but they’re brown instead of neon orange, and instead of cheese they offer a big hit of cinnamon with a faint aftertaste of salted butter. In other words, they’re yummy and very easy to mindlessly eat. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

5. Quaker Apple Cinnamon Rice Crisps, $1.50 for 3.52 ounces at Walmart

If you crave the crunch of a chip but the sweetness of a treat, these silver-dollar-sized brown rice cakes fit the bill. The apple flavor is more pronounced than the cinnamon, but they’re definitely sweet enough to put your candy craving on hold.
