Choco Tacos Might Not Be Gone for Good — Here’s What You Need to Know
Just as we started to wrap our heads around the concept of life without the Choco Taco, Klondike starts messing with our emotions. After confirming the news of the discontinuation of the folded waffle shell filled with chocolate-swirled vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate and nuts in a July 25 series of tweets, parent company Klondike has tempted us with a little sweet news.
Following much posthumous fallout (a social media uproar against the discontinuation came in hot when the devastating news hit), an August 2 tweet from the official Klondike Twitter account leads us to believe our favorite ‘80s ice cream may be on its way back into our hearts (and our freezers).
“We know this is disappointing,” the brand said in the tweet. “We’ve heard our fans, and we’re hoping to bring this favorite treat back to ice cream trucks in the coming years!”
Taking things a step further, a representative for the brand also released a statement in regards to the news. “We knew the Choco Taco was a fan favorite, and the decision to discontinue the product was a tough one to make,” the Klondike spokesperson told TODAY in an email. “The overwhelming support for Choco Taco has certainly made us reconsider our long-term plans. The team is working on a plan to bring it back, although it may take some time.”
While there is no definite timeline for bringing the Choco Taco back, the makers of this dessert have definitely given us something to taco ‘bout.
