On a sweltering summer day, the very best reprieve is a cool and sweet treat. Even better? When that treat is waiting for you in your very own freezer.

My love for frozen treats is pure and true, but as a registered dietitian, I don’t always love the ingredients that I find in many popular frozen novelties on grocery store shelves. For years, I have compromised on either taste or ingredients when I select a frozen pop. Either it’s loaded with artificial colors and flavors, yet has that nostalgically sweet taste, or it is made with more “dietitian-approved” ingredients and tastes like frozen cardboard. For the longest time, I couldn’t find a happy medium.

Yes, I could always make my own pops, but between working, parenting, and trying to sneak in some sleep, all my Pinterest board recipes have had to wait. That is why my pop-shaped heart skipped a beat when I tried Chloe’s Oatmilk Raspberry Chip Pops for the first time.

As a lover of all things dairy, I was hesitant to try an oat milk-based pop at first. I expected it to taste “good enough” as a substitute for dairy, but I never imagined that I would prefer the texture of an oat milk pop OVER a dairy-based pop. (I suppose this is why my mom always encouraged me to try new foods.)

Buy: Chloe’s Oatmilk Raspberry Chip Pops, $4 for four at Target

These pops are the prettiest pink hue, not because of food coloring, but because they are made with real raspberry purée. I finally found a creamy-yet-dairy-free pop that is amazingly delicious and isn’t loaded with anything artificial. Vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free, they have become a staple in my freezer.

Chloe’s Oatmilk Pops check so many boxes in my dietitian-dessert-lover mind. Each box retails for around $4 and comes with four individually-wrapped treats in a box. Since my recent pop discovery, I have been keeping them stocked in my freezer all summer long. Unwrapping one is a simple pleasure that I savor almost every day.

Have you tried these? What sweet treats are you eating this summer?
