Two years ago Chipotle was the first restaurant to openly label menu items containing GMOs. Now they're taking it one step further. As of earlier this week, Chipotle has eliminated all genetically modified ingredients from its menu. This is a move that's been in the works for some time.
The primary ingredients seeing a change are corn, and there is a swap from soybean oil to GMO-free sunflower oil, rice-bran oil, and canola oil. As of now, the chicken and pork do not come from animals receiving a GMO-free diet.
This change does come at a cost, though, so don't be surprised if you see prices tick up later this year.
