A rolling, multipurpose kitchen cart is practically essential for any small kitchen in need of a little extra prep and storage space. IKEA has long ruled the roost with its line of affordable, space-friendly kitchen islands and carts, but there’s a new contender vying for our affection: the Mise en Place kitchen cart from CB2.

Yes, at $249 on sale it’s still a little more more expensive than many of the carts you can find at IKEA, but it has some terrific features: a solid iron frame, two removable chrome shelves, a bar rail with four accompanying hooks that can be placed on either side of the cart, a deep drawer and — in what is perhaps our favorite feature — a wood top cutting board that lifts out for serving!

All that, and it’s on rollers so you can move it wherever you need it. If you’re looking for a kitchen cart that’s a step up from the usual offerings, this is the cart for you.
