The number of craft distilleries has increased more than tenfold since 2000, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the shelves of most liquor stores, which are dominated by corporate brands. With a rotating selection of small-batch spirits that can be purchased online, Caskers is a new website looking to change the way you drink, no matter where you live.
Caskers is a bit like like other sale-of-the-day sites and curated shops like Gilt Taste, but for spirits, featuring a selection of products, each available for sale for a limited amount of time. The spirits are unusual — like a Washington-state gin made with dried Fuji apples and hops — and often award-winning.
And if you're itching to taste before you buy, they will soon be introducing Caskers Tastings, which will ship 3 to 5 sample bottles of spirits to members each month.
Caskers is currently invite-only. And remember that state regulations for the shipping of alcohol apply, so look for any restrictions on the product information before ordering.
