‘An Amazing Ride,’ Carla Hall Reacts to The Chew Getting Canceled After Seven Seasons
Sad news: ABC confirmed yesterday that after seven seasons, The Chew has been canceled.
The Chew was groundbreaking when it debuted seven years ago as a food show that’s also a talk show, but it really worked, thanks in large part to the banter between hosts Carla Hall, Clinton Kelly, and Michael Symon. They have an amazing rapport, and the set just looked like so much fun. It was impossible to watch The Chew without thinking, “I want to hang out too!” (Mario Batali was a co-host too, but he was fired in December and is currently the subject of a criminal investigation, according to NBC.)
Fans were devastated to hear that the charming show would be going away, and that its time slot would be occupied by a third hour of Good Morning America. The show’s hosts must have been even more disappointed by the news than the fans were, but they took to Twitter to talk about how much the show and its fans meant to them.
“I am so grateful for all the times and incredible friends I have made over the past seven years on @thechew,” Carla Hall wrote. “It has truly been an amazing ride.”
She did not say what her immediate plans were, but she sounded optimistic about her next endeavors.
“I am looking forward to new adventures!” she wrote. “What’s next? Stay tuned! Onward and upward! #adventurefollows”
Hall is a chef and a prolific cookbook author in addition to being a TV host. Whatever she does next, I hope to be able to keep watching her on TV, because I’d watch Carla Hall do pretty much anything. She’s smart, funny, and stylish, and she’s amazing on camera. Before Hall became a cook she actually studied to be an actress, and she recently guest-starred on General Hospital and voiced a character on BoJack Horseman. The camera just loves her, and I can’t wait to see what kind of show she’ll be doing next.
While she is moving on to new adventures, I also wish Carla Hall would design a line of glasses. Or at least tell me where she gets hers, because they are spectacular.
According to a press release, there are still new episodes of The Chew coming, though enjoying them will be bittersweet. The Chew will continue to air until September, with new episodes airing in June.
