Q: Can I pick fresh basil, then wash, dry, and freeze it to use later?

Editor: Yes, fresh basil can definitely be frozen, and it's a great way to preserve all the flavors that remind us of summer to use later in the year. It's best to blanch the leaves first before freezing them, but then you can use the frozen leaves just as you would fresh basil. You can also puree fresh basil with a little bit of olive oil before freezing the puree in ice cube trays.
