Buttered Rum Eggnog Cake May Be the Savior Your Holiday Dessert Table Needs
When the holidays return, we welcome back a few of our favorite seasonal tastes: hot buttered rum, a perfectly spiced eggnog, and rich and buttery pound cake. Well, Jocelyn Delk Adams (aka @grandbabycakes) has perfected the art of multitasking this holiday by combining all our favorite holiday flavors into a moist, melt-in-your-mouth spiced cake drizzled in a butter rum syrup.
Taking to Instagram to post her recipe for Buttered Rum Eggnog Cake, this is one cake that falls under the umbrella of being the perfect Christmas treat. Adding to her robust pound cake recipe collection (three of which can now be purchased at Williams Sonoma), this dessert recipe goes viral every year. In fact, one of her 242,000 followers even commented that she made three of them last winter alone, and there’s no wondering why.
While most ingredients are pretty basic (think: sugar, eggs, cake flour, vanilla, nutmeg, and, of course, rum), Adams also spotlights two special ones as the heroes. “I like to use a European-style butter that has a higher fat content with less water. It really makes a difference in richness,” she says of her butter choice, along with using a high-quality eggnog for the best spiced kick. Her buttered rum sauce adds another dimension, jazzing up the flavors and soaking into every bite.
