My birthday falls just before Halloween, and these gummy worm garden brownies were served at almost every Halloween birthday party from the time I was 4 until I turned 12. What looks like frosting on top of these brownies is actually chocolate pudding, making this the greatest combination of brownies, pudding, candy, and crushed cookies ever. It really is the perfect dessert for your Halloween parties.

First, Make the Brownies

Before you can transform a pan of brownies into a Halloween treat, you'll need to bake up a pan. Below is our recipe for homemade chewy brownies, but your favorite box of brownies works just as well. If you're in the business of baking up a brownie for one, we've got you covered there as well.

Next, Make Some Pudding

While the brownies bake, whip up a batch of chocolate pudding. Whether you use a box from the grocery store or use our recipe for easy DIY chocolate pudding (it is really easy), you'll need at least a cup of pudding to top a 9x9-inch pan of brownies. You can pour the still-warm pudding on top of the cooled brownies and chill them together before topping with the gummy worms. Just make sure the pudding has a layer of plastic wrap or parchment paper directly covering it to prevent a skin from forming.

Finally Top It

Top the cooled pudding and brownies with crushed chocolate cookies and your favorite gummy worms just before serving.
