Dearest gentle reader, if you’re at all a fan of friends-to-lovers stories, historical period romances, Netflix, or, well, the internet, then it’s likely that you’ve heard of a little show called Bridgerton. The second part of season 3 was released on June 13, and there’s been a lot of press surrounding this particular season. More specifically, there are a lot of eyes on the two leads of the season: Nicola Coughlan (who plays Penelope Featherington/Lady Whistledown), and Luke Newton (who plays Colin Bridgerton). This means a lot of interviews, shared secrets, and, to our sheer delight, a surprisingly delicious sounding dessert recipe from the leading lady herself.

During a press interview, Coughlan and Newton were asked “Who’s most likely to cook the whole entire cast dinner?” Immediately, Newton pointed to Coughlan and said “Nic.” Then, Coughlan admitted that she loved to make Newton “little treats” while they were on set, including a peanut butter crumble because “he loves peanut butter.” She then divulged how she made it: “He prefers the crumble to the fruit, so I made it very crumble-heavy.” The crumble included apples, oats, flour, sugar, and peanut butter, served with a custard on the side.

This, of course, makes us want to make a peanut butter crumble ourselves. Thankfully, making a crumble is easy with any kind of fruit, and this one would require adding peanut butter to the crumble to elevate that flavor. While Coughlan uses apples, we can’t help but swoon over the idea of using a berry to give it that “peanut butter and jelly” effect, like strawberries or raspberries. We’re even imagining these PB&J crumble bar cookies would also be a major hit with Newton, if Lord Bridgerton would allow us the time to cook for him as well.

With the perfect dessert inspired by the cast members themselves, we can’t wait to dive into season 3 of Bridgerton now that part two is officially released, and finally see how this friends-to-lovers romance plays out on-screen.
