Our Readers’ Favorite Alternative to Wood Cutting Boards

Yesterday we posted a question from a reader looking for a good carving board. But instead of recommending a wood board, several readers piped up in the comments about something else: Epicurean’s composite boards that happen to be dishwasher-safe.

Epicurean boards are made of wood fibers and a food-safe resin. They’re light and thin, with soft colors and finishes that have the warmth of wood.

We’ve talked about them in the past: Elizabeth shared how much she liked her board, especially given that it’s thin enough to slide behind her knife block. Emma also loves them, and talked here about their spatulas (made from the same material) and this iPad stand.

And then there were the recommendations in that thread:

I haven’t actually tried the boards myself, but I’m thinking about it now, given the plethora of recommendations. I have to say I really like the idea of a dishwasher-friendly board that isn’t plastic, and I also quite appreciate the look and styling of these boards.
