Braising Contest Honorable Mentions 2007: Caitlin’s Braised Chicken with Shallots, Garlic & Balsamic Vinegar
(Last week we announced that we would be awarding nineteen Honorable Mentions in our Braising Contest. All of these entrants will be receiving an Apartment Therapy T-Shirt. We loved the look of this simple dish. Caitlin says: I used your contest and a hard work week as an excuse to try a new recipe I found on epicurious.com. The Braised Chicken with Shallots, Garlic and Balsamic Vinegar turned out fabulously. The ingredient list was short but I did replace the water with wine and stock. From start to finish the dish took about an hour and a half, my stove is the type that is either really hot or barely on, so cooking the bacon took quite a while. It was worth it though.
I served it as suggested, over some mashed potatoes in a pasta bowl. I also served some plain ole’ steamed broccoli. It is certainly a meal I will cook again after grilling season is over.
