Celebrate the season with your favorite jam! Wait, which season, you might wonder? It turns out that if you want the hottest Advent calendar on the market, you need to buy it in September. This calendar is so popular that it sold out on Amazon and World Market several times before the actual Advent season. For those who have missed out for the last two years, we’re talking about the Bonne Maman Advent Calendar, which is 24 days of utterly exceptional confitures tucked away in a box as adorable as the iconic jars the jams comes in.

Even if you don’t know Bonne Maman’s jams, marmalades, and jellies by name, you’d likely recognize the red-and-white-checked pattern tops and flattened sides of the round glass jars (and, if you’re like me, you grew up drinking all beverages out of them at your home). If not, you’re in for a treat because it’s some of the best big-batch jam on the market, and — as noted — the leftover jars make great drinking glasses and storage vessels.

The calendar is currently back on Amazon and retails for $56 (it was originally $35 when first released). The calendar includes many of the classic Bonne Maman flavors, like lemon, quince, and three different strawberry jams (one with red currant, one verbena, and one with wild strawberry), and is bringing back some of the most interesting flavors from last year’s calendar, such as grapefruit with dragonfruit, and raspberry and lychee. But perhaps the most fun is in checking out some of the new flavors coming to the calendar this year, like purple fig with cinnamon, or the mango with peach and lime.

Just remember, the jams are best by June, so you’ll have about six months to go through your stash. Hopefully you remember to ask for a new toaster for Christmas!
