You probably think you’ve seen every variation of a food competition show there is to see by now. From baking treats to baking cheesy, pepperoni pies, it seems like there’s nothing extremely new about the shows hitting the small screen these days. Thanks to Bobby Flay and his brand new spin on the concept, however, fans may be singing a different tune.

Premiering on Food Network on Tuesday, September 27, Bobby’s Triple Threat takes the intensity of Beat Bobby Flay up three notches. Each week, a competitor will be given the opportunity to go up against three “Titans” of the culinary world — all of whom are quite familiar with TV cooking contests. Tiffany Derry, Michael Voltaggio, and Brooke Williamson are all accomplished culinary entrepreneurs and Top Chef alums with Voltaggio winning the sixth season of the long-running competition.

Unlike similar projects that Flay has under his belt, however, the contestants on this show will be just as skilled as the Titans they’ll be up against. Case in point: the first episode’s contestant is James Beard Award-winner Jonathon Sawyer.

“It takes tenacity to beat these Titans and I’m not going to bring in somebody that the Titans can just mop the kitchen with,” Flay says during the episode. “Not happening.”

At this point in his career, Bobby Flay is now as renowned for his work in media as he is for his culinary skills. Bobby’s Triple Threat becomes the 17th show that the award-winning chef and TV personality has hosted on Food Network over the last 20 years.

In addition, Flay is the author of over a dozen cookbooks and has hosted a number of cooking shows on other platforms as well, including SiriusXM satellite radio. In 2021, he also launched a podcast named Always Hungry with his daughter, Sophie Flay, during which they capture their conversations as they prepare dinner together.

Bobby’s Triple Threat premieres Tuesday, September 27 at 9 p.m. ET on both Food Network and discovery+
