One of the first things my husband and I purchased for our new apartment this year was a rug for our living room. I found the rug at World Market and was immediately intrigued by its wool texture, unique scalloped edge, and curved line design in colors that felt reminiscent of Neapolitan ice cream — I had never seen anything like it, and I was more than excited to design the rest of my living room around it.

My husband and I noticed just a week later that, as bold and funky as it was, the rug was shedding profusely. Wool hairs and balls of fuzz were appearing not just on the rug, but also in my kitchen, bedroom, and even bathroom. Although my Goldendoodle, Chai, isn’t a shedding dog, this rug was starting to feel as if I had a second sheds-like-crazy pup. Despite vacuuming once a week, I was still picking up mostly wool hairs and fuzz balls on the dustpan daily. While it wasn’t exactly a pet problem, I figured I needed a pet solution for my rug and found just the thing.

Before I even got my rug, I was on the hunt for an upgraded vacuum. Once I started researching some pet hair solutions, I came across the BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Lift-Off Vacuum. Its powerful suction, self-cleaning brush roll, edge lighting, and HEPA sealed allergen system caught my attention. After using it only once, I was convinced this was the answer to my rug’s shedding problems.

Not only did this vacuum immediately clean up all the existing fuzz balls on the top layer of my rug, but it also sucked up loose wool hairs that would typically end up in other rooms just a couple of days after using my previous vacuum. I was so impressed with this vacuum’s performance (and shocked at how much was trapped in the bin after just four passes on the rug!), I decided to use this vacuum in my kitchen.

Although I typically prefer to sweep my kitchen to remove small crumbs and other debris, I figured this vacuum might be quicker and more efficient than a conventional broom. The Turbo Brush Pivot attachment cleaned up dirt and crumbs from my oven’s corners with such ease, while the low carpet setting was perfect for my kitchen mat (which unsurprisingly caught some of those pesky wool hairs from my living room rug).

Because natural light doesn’t reach my kitchen all that much, the headlights on the vacuum were extra helpful in making sure I got every last crumb. While a broom can still come in handy for kitchen cleaning, this vacuum doesn’t require me to bend down to sweep into a dustpan and illuminates my space to make sure I’m getting the job done.
