Thanks to Betty Crocker You Can Have Your Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cake and Eat It, Too
If you’re a breakfast lover like I am, then you look for any excuse to carry the morning meal over to other parts of your day. I find myself frequently enjoying eggs for dinner, pancakes at odd hours, and a bowl of cereal as a snack. If you can relate, then listen up. There’s a brand new Cinnamon Toast Crunch line from Betty Crocker, giving us an opportunity to enjoy sweet breakfast flavors all day long.
If you love the distinctively cinnamon-y, sweet, and graham-like flavors of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, then chances are you’ll enjoy these new baking and frosting mixes. And first up on the list of mentionables is the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cake Mix — a classic vanilla Betty Crocker cake mix with Cinnadust added.
Cinnadust, if you’re not in the know, is a sugar-spice blend that first hit the market in 2020. It’s all of the flavors of Cinnamon Toast Crunch in a handy bottle, allowing you to sprinkle toast, fruit, really anything with cereal goodness. Cinnadust is the secret ingredient in this new Betty Crocker product line, giving each item that Cinnamon Toast Crunch je ne sais quoi.
To top your cake, you’ll be using — you guessed it — Cinnamon Toast Crunch Frosting. I imagine the frosting would also be tasty on a carrot cake, spice cake, or even chocolate cake. Or use the frosting to decorate Cinnamon Toast Crunch cookies made with Betty Crocker’s new mix.
The most appealing options to me in the product line happen to be the most breakfast-appropriate: pancake/baking mix and coffee cake mix. A streusel-topped coffee cake infused with Cinnamon Toast Crunch goodness is a genuinely good idea. The pancake mix is studded with pockets of Cinnadust and includes some actual cereal to sprinkle on top for crunch (or to snack on while you wait for your pancakes to cook).
The only thing many of these items are missing is the crunch factor (pancake topping aside). But they seem to be a fun option if you’re craving the flavor of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and also want to eat some cake or cookies. And why not top your frosted cake with actual cereal? Now we’re talkin’.
If by this time you’re not overloaded on Cinnamon Toast Crunch flavor, you can always pick up a box of the new limited-edition Lucky Charms Cinnamon Toast Crunch Mix — a mashup of the two iconic cereals in one package. How about that for a true treat?
