I sampled dozens of new products from classic brands and up-and-comers to narrow down the list to my absolute favorites. These are the 12 best new groceries hitting shelves this month.

1. Sumo Citrus

It may be the heart of winter, but these sumos are like sunshine in your palm. The funny-to-look-at, easy-to-peel, seedless giant mandarins are back in season, and just in time for Lunar New Year gifting (as citrus is traditional to that holiday). They’re sweet, juicy, and offer 163% of your daily vitamin C, which, honestly, we could all use more of these days.

Find it in stores: Sumo Citrus, starting at $3.99 for 1 pound at retailers nationwide

2. Copper Cow Coffee Milk Tea Coffee Latte

Speaking of Lunar New Year, this popular Vietnamese-owned, sustainable coffee brand has just come out with a new way to start the day or kick off dessert via a limited-edition Milk Tea Coffee Latte. Featuring coffee and Ceylon tea, this blend has the best of both worlds in the no-equipment-needed, pour-over format that’s changed the way we latte. Bold, fragrant, sweet, and made creamy with real milk, you may choose to take your caffeine as a two-in-one henceforth.

3. Icelandic Provisions Multi-Serve Skyr

Can’t get enough of creamy, delicious skyr? Same. Which is why I was delighted to learn that the Icelandic brand launched its first-ever multi-serve containers in two varieties: whole-milk plain and low-fat plain. Made with just two-ingredients (milk and live, active cultures), these larger tubs contain five servings and are a mainstay in my fridge. Just like their single-serve cup counterparts, they are high in protein (14 grams) and have plenty of that tang and thickness.

4. Kellogg’s Special K Cereals

The breakfast giant’s signature brand just got even more “special” with three new Special K cereals: Oat Crunch Honey with Crunchy Granola, featuring sweetened multigrain flakes with vanilla-oat clusters, whose more robust texture stays crunchy longer than your average cereal clusters; cocoa-dusted High Protein Chocolate Almond, with 20 grams of protein per serving; and warm Cinnamon Zero, the Special K’s first cereal puff with long staying power in milk and no sugar (another first for the brand).

5. Blake’s Seed Based Chewy Granola Bars

Finding snacks that are allergen-friendly (and flavorful!) can be a tough nut to crack, which is why this company doesn’t include any. Blake’s Seed Based premise has always been to create snacks free from the top seven allergens, using seeds in place of nuts, gluten, soy, eggs, etc. The new Chewy Granola Bars remain true to this. All three flavors are gluten-free, vegan, and low in sugar. True to their names, chocolate-dipped Chocolate Chip and white chocolate-coated Birthday Cake are reminiscent of desserts, while the spice-dusted Apple Cinnamon makes for a good on-the-go breakfast snack.

Find it in stores: Blake’s Seed Based Chewy Granola Bars, $8.99 for a 6 bars at Kroger

6. Tattooed Chef Oat Butter Bars

This plant-based frozen food company has just made a shift over to the fridge with a line of adaptogen-added, plant protein-filled, vitamin D-enhanced bars. The soy-, sugar-, and gluten-free lineup comes in four flavors: Chocolate Chip, Brownie, Peanut, and cinnamon-y Graham. The use of oat butter (the brand’s differentiator) adds a slightly salty and savory, buttery richness to the finish.

Find it in stores: Tattooed Chef Oat Butter Bars, $2.99 per 2.47 ounces at Harris Teeter, Lowes Food, Nugget, and Central Market

7. PB2 Pantry Baking Mixes

The company that revolutionized peanut butter (by making it in powder form!) has done it again with a trio of baking mixes: chocolate chip cookie, chocolate chip brownie, and apple cinnamon muffin. The ingredients in these resealable tubs start with roasted peanut flour (instead of wheat) for a new way to do gluten-free that’s — believe it or not! — true to advertised flavor and not distractingly peanutty.

8. Nestle Coffee Mate Limited-Edition Flavored Creamers

Do your taste buds need a wake-up call? This popular coffee creamer has partnered with two more beloved brands to create a duo of limited-edition morning brew enhancers. The Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts channels the sweet toaster pastry with its namesake sugar and cinnamon; Zero Sugar Twix adds a touch of milk chocolate, caramel, and even buttery cookie flavor into your mug. Both are a limited run, so snag these while you can.

Find it in stores: Nestle Coffee Mate Limited-Edition Flavored Creamers, $4.39 for 32 ounces at Walmart, Hy-Vee, HEB, and Food Lion; coming in February to Kroger

9. Buitoni Pepperoni & Cheese and Chicken Parmesan Ravioli

The folks at Buitoni are stuffing their thin, egg pasta with chunky cubes of pepperoni with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese (Pepperoni & Cheese) and seasoned, breaded chicken bits with tomato, mozzarella, Romano, and ricotta (Chicken Parmesan). They’re delicate and not overly stuffed, which helps keep them from bursting in (gently) boiling water. Bonus: They only take six minutes to cook, which is significantly less time than it takes to make either of the original muses.

Find it in stores: Buitoni Ravioli, $8.99 for 20 ounces at Kroger, Mariano’s, Dillons, King Soopers, Fry’s, Fred Meyer, Ralphs, QFC, Smith’s, Food 4 Less, Albertsons, and Safeway

10. Strong Roots Plant-Based Frozen Entrees

Say goodbye to frozen vegetarian meals that skimp on the veggies! Living up to its name, these frozen entrées from Strong Roots are the freshest, most verdant and vibrant veggies I’ve seen in the freezer section. They’re launching 14 global flavors such as Thai Green Veg Curry and Greek Orzo Pasta Bake (pictured above), plus Black Dahl, White Bean and Lentil Goulash, and Chipotle Mac, among others. The flavors are light and bright. Bonus: Each entrée displays a climate footprint score on the front of the packaging for total transparency on the climate impact of this satisfying choice.

11. Solely Organic Green Banana Fusilli Pasta

Before you scoff, think about how firm and non banana-y green bananas are and you’ll understand why this works. It cooks up in four easy minutes and pairs just fine with tomato sauce, which the fusilli cut is aces at holding onto. Plus, its novel dark color is a fun bonus to wow on a plate. Not at all fruity, the pasta is, in fact, slightly vegetal and nicely springy once cooled (although it is a little on the gummier side if overcooked). Pair with a strong sauce or in a stir-fry for best results.

12. Delve Chocolate Mascarpone Truffles

Cheese has its place in plenty of sweet treats (looking at you, tiramisu and cannoli), which is why I was so excited about these truffles. No ordinary bonbon, these shiny, speckled bites of responsibly sourced chocolate wrap gooey, triple-crème mascarpone centers of Sea Salted Caramel Creme, Raspberry, and Lemon in a delectable, cheesecake-adjacent bite. They’re surprisingly creamy and slightly tangy, while the thick shell of chocolate is a delightful treat.

Find it in stores: Delve Chocolate Mascarpone Truffles, starting at $7.99 for 8 truffles at Amazon Fresh, Instacart, Kroger, Sprouts, and more; 36-count packs available at Costco
