The 8 Best New Groceries to Hit Supermarket Shelves This August
The Olympics have come and gone, but there’s still plenty to look forward to — a few more weeks of summer days, some long-awaited travel plans, and a slew of brand-new items at the grocery store. In fact, there have been lots of new finds at the grocery store. You know, as food companies plan ahead to help us with back-to-school lunches, afternoon snacks, and busy weeknight dinners.
I tried dozens of brand-new products and I’m happy to report that a good number of them are definitely medal-worthy (or should at least get an honorable mention). These are the new grocery items that stood out the most — including dried fruit chips and a decadent chocolate torte. Let’s take a look!
1. RIND Chips
I’ve had (and enjoyed) dried apple chips before, but orange and kiwi were brand new to me. These single-ingredient fruit chips make a tasty snack, and I like that the chips include everything — skin, seeds, pits, and all — for more fiber and vitamin C. I liked the apple chips the most, but the kiwi chips were a more surprising, close second. RIND Chips contain no added sugar, are vegan and gluten-free, and Non-GMO Project Verified.

2. Stonewall Kitchen Dark Chocolate Torte
Oh. My. Chocolate. This decadent chocolate torte is like a fudgy brownie and requires just two additional ingredients to make: a stick of unsalted butter and three large eggs. If I were to make it again, I’d stir in some walnuts for extra crunch and enjoy it with some sliced strawberries. But man, was it delicious right out of the pan. Did I mention it’s made without flour and certified gluten-free?

3. Stonewall Kitchen Biscotti Crisps
Another great, new find from Stonewall Kitchen! These thin, slightly sweet crisps are delicious enough to eat on their own, but you can also enjoy them with a smear of cheese and jam on top or serve them as a sweet component on a charcuterie board. I ate these right out of the box and regret nothing; the Chocolate Cherry Almond flavor was easily my favorite.

4. Austin Eastciders Lemon Ginger
Part of Austin Eastciders’s experimental Maker’s Stash series, this refreshing cider is made with bittersweet apples blended with lemons and a bite of ginger. Apple is still the dominant flavor here, as you’d expect, but the addition of the sharp flavors of lemon and ginger are an interesting twist. This flavor will only be around for a limited time, so get it while you can.

5. Old El Paso Burrito Bowl Kits
For an easy weeknight dinner, these burrito bowls are a tasty option. Each box comes with cilantro lime white rice, seasoning mix, and a mild queso blanco sauce. I bought a pound of ground beef and made the Seasoned Beef meal, adding chopped mushrooms and onions to the meat and rounding out my bowl with some mixed greens and sliced avocado.

6. Cello Breeze Cheese Flight
For the Olympics opening ceremony, my husband and I popped open a bottle of bubbly and made a cheese board with this cheese flight as the main event. The cheeses complemented each other well, with a combination of sweet, savory, and nutty flavors. The English cheddar, with its crunchy salty bits, was my favorite of the bunch. I liked that the product packaging included detailed information about each cheese plus suggested beer and wine pairings.

7. Food for Life Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Flourless Flax Tortillas
For a healthful breakfast, I’ve been making a simplified version of Nadiya Hussain’s crispy egg rolls. I whisk two eggs, pour them into a hot nonstick pan, let them cook for a minute or so, then lay one of these sprouted live grain tortillas on top. I flip the cooked egg onto a plate, throw some spinach on top, and roll it all up. Delicious, nutritious, and quick. You can find these tortillas in the freezer section at natural food stores and supermarkets nationwide.

8. natural bliss Cinnamon Swirl Latte
As much as I’m loving these summer days, I’m also very ready for fall. This cinnamon-flavored creamer gives me a taste of my favorite season — despite soaring temperatures outside. Its comforting blend of spices, brown sugar, cake, and graham cracker notes give me all the cozy fall feels.
