The 10 Best Holiday Treats at TJ’s, According to the Creator of Black Girls in Trader Joe’s
It goes without saying that holiday celebrations are not going to be the same this year. Luckily, even with all of the uncertainty, there’s one thing that will remain the same: Trader Joe’s will, without fail, have some absolutely delectable holiday treats. (And you know I’ll be posting about them on my Instagram account, @BlackGirlsInTraderJoes, of course.)
No matter where you are, or who you’re celebrating with (or without), these familiar (and reasonably priced!) treats will bring comfort and all the warm, fuzzy feelings. These are my absolute favorite sweet treats at TJ’s this holiday season. Don’t miss out!
1. Jingle Jangle, $9.99 for 22.7 ounces
Of all the holiday sweets from Trader Joe’s, this classic might take the cake. It’s a sweet-and-salty combo of milk- and dark-chocolate-covered mini pretzels, dark chocolate-covered popcorn, mini peanut butter cups, and other fun little treats. As a bonus, it comes in a cute reusable tin.
2. Candy Cane Joe Joe’s Ice Cream, $2.99
For a serious mint- and chocolate-lover, this ice cream delivers in every single way. Swirls of fudge snake through peppermint-laced vanilla ice cream, which is also dotted with crunchy bits of candy cane. If you spot these, buy a few pints.
3. Gingerbread Sandwich Cookies, $4.99
Something about these gingerbread cookies tastes very nostalgic — perhaps their molasses flavor? Or maybe the soft whipped frosting in the middle? Anyone who loves a sandwich cookie should try this festive rendition.
4. Taste Test of Caramels, $5.99
Test your palate and pick up a flight of flavored caramels for an at-home tasting. Turn this activity into a fun night in and see how many flavors you can guess right. There’s a strawberry black pepper one that might make you say hmmmm …
5. Chocolate Pecan Pie Bar, $6.99
Trader Joe’s took a classic Thanksgiving pecan pie and gave it a velvety, chocolate upgrade for the winter holiday season.
6. Salty Honey Toffee Milk Chocolate Covered Crackers, $3.99
This name might be a mouthful to say, but these crackers are the kind of treat that will make you close your eyes in bliss once you have your first bite.
7. Dark Chocolate Orange, $2.99 for 6.17 ounces
This break-a-part chocolate/citrus treat tastes great on its own, but I suggest turning it into a unique addition to a charcuterie board. Peel, segment, and share this sweet, old-school delight.
8. Hot Chocolate Sticks, $3.29 for 7.4 ounces
These hot chocolate sticks are a great pantry staple during December. They’re especially wonderful to have on hand for a snowy night in (for kids and adults alike). Stir into hot milk and top with marshmallows before cozying up with a warm blanket.
9. Cookie Mug Hangers, $2.49
Can you blame these little gingerbread people who are simply dying to jump into that aforementioned cup of hot cocoa?
10. Stroopwafels Cutch Caramel Waffle Cookies, $4.99
Dessert in the morning? Where do I sign! The tin suggests putting a cookie over your favorite hot beverage, like coffee or tea, to steam the caramel inside. I suggest listening to the tin.
Which of these treats are you most excited for?
