I Tried All the Frozen Breakfast Options at Costco — These Are the 2 I’ll Be Buying Again
Buying in bulk can be a gamble, instilling uncertainty in even the most seasoned Costco shopper. The risk is high to invest the money (and storage space), but the reward can be just as great. And when it comes to the frozen breakfast section, the choices are seemingly endless: waffles, pancakes, sandwiches, burritos, bowls, frittatas, pastries, and more. How do you know for certain that you’re picking a winner?
After struggling to find time for breakfast one too many mornings in a row, I rolled the dice and stocked my freezer with easy morning meals from Costco. I taste tested every box to find the best bet — and ended up finding two. Here are my top sweet and savory picks.
Best Savory Breakfast: Jimmy Dean Delights English Muffin Breakfast Sandwich, $12.99 for 12
Jimmy Dean is a fixture in the frozen foods aisle. Made with cage-free egg whites, a slice of cheese, and turkey sausage sandwiched between English muffin halves, this heat-and-eat breakfast sandwich is ready in as little as five minutes when microwaved (or 20 minutes if you’re baking it in the oven). It is filling, but doesn’t feel heavy or greasy like most drive-thru breakfast sandwiches.
Best Sweet Breakfast: Veggies Made Great Blueberry Oat Muffins, $12.69 for 20
I’ve been eyeing these veggie-packed muffins for months and finally took this taste test as a sign to add them to my cart. While the warmed-up muffins don’t exactly resemble the photograph on the box (they have a blue-green tint to them), they taste heartily of oats and blueberries. They’re also packed with zucchini, carrots, blueberries, and oats, so these muffins are a great start to the morning — but don’t sleep on them for lunch boxes and after-school (or work!) snacks.
