As much as I’d love to be the kind of person who makes a hot, homemade breakfast every morning, that’s not a reality for my life. (Those morning minutes are incredibly precious when you’re trying to get yourself and your kids dressed, fed, and out the door.) So after another sad morning of slurping down a cold bowl of cereal, I went to Aldi to see what alternatives they had to offer.

I packed my cart with every frozen breakfast option in the store, thinking I could hold an official taste test and find some winners that I could keep on hand at all times. I got to work and picked the very best sweet and savory breakfasts. Keep your freezer stocked and you can have a hot breakfast every morning. These aren’t homemade, no, but they taste pretty darn close!

Best Savory Breakfast: Breakfast Best Meat Lovers Breakfast Bowl, $1.75 for 1 serving

This all-in-one bowl is the best way to start a busy day. It’s packed with hearty hunks of (peel on!) potatoes, surprisingly tender scrambled eggs, cheese, sausage, and bacon. And it’s ready in just three minutes — that’s faster than any breakfast I can make! All this bowl needs is a dash of hot sauce to make it complete.

Best Sweet Breakfast: Breakfast Best Cinnamon French Toast Sticks, $1.59 for 1 pound

French toast is my go-to brunch order; after all, who can resist sweet custard-soaked bread topped with a slab of butter and a drizzle of warm maple syrup? Certainly not me! These French toast sticks are soft in the very best way and coated in crunchy cinnamon sugar, so you don’t even need to use syrup (especially handy if you need to eat these on the go!). Because microwaves can differ, start with a 60-second blast to test the power of yours.
