Sometimes all it takes is $10 to buy a truly great (possibly even life-changing) item for your kitchen. That’s right — it’s not all about the Vitamix blenders and KitchenAid stand mixers! We polled Kitchn editors to see what things they’ve bought lately (for $10 or less) that they’re shockingly excited about.

“I recently got a new oven thermometer because I couldn’t see the face of my old one anymore! If you do not have an oven thermometer, we strongly suggest you get one — it’s shocking how many ovens give inaccurate readings, and it really matters when you’re baking.” Christine Gallary, Food Editor-at-Large

“When we moved last year, I recycled our old dry erase board (it was pretty beat up) and just forgot to replace it. With school starting back up I need a place to write our meal plan for the week, lunch ideas, and important dates. I hang it on the side of the fridge, so everything is right there.” Meghan Splawn, Associate Food Editor

“I saw this featured in another story on our site and I just had to get one, too. I used to have a utensil organizer that took up an entire drawer and it seemed like a pretty big waste of space in my tiny kitchen. These overlapping compartments are a way more clever design — and take up half the space.” — Lauren Masur, Staff Writer

“They say to get a cleaning solution you love so that you’re inclined to want to use it more often … and they’re right! This honeysuckle spray smells so good and I love that I can spray it on anything including my counters, table, and even my stovetop.” Ariel Knutson, News & Culture Editor

5. Cameo Porcelain Cleaner, $7 for 10 ounces

“I have a white porcelain sink that I just could not get clean — until I got this magic bottle, that is. The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (one of my great true loves in life) did a fine job, but this did even better.” Lisa Freedman, Lifestyle Director

“Afternoons don’t count unless you take a quick break for iced matcha. I’ve been making mine at home and I got these straws to replace plastic ones, so that I can sip without being wasteful.” — Faith Durand, Editor-in-Chief

“I lost a few lids a while ago and had other similar containers that didn’t have lids. Until very recently, I didn’t know you could just buy replacements! I’m feeling kind of victorious about this find.” Kelli Foster, Associate Food Editor

8. IKEA Corcho Trivet, $7 for three

I recently bought my first home, which came with granite countertops. I quickly learned my old renter ways of plopping a hot pan on cheap laminate counters were not going to cut it anymore, so I grabbed a pack of these trivets. They look nice enough to leave out on the counter, so I can easily grab one when I need it. (Note: These trivets are cheaper at IKEA, but since the closest store is almost an hour away from me, I’d happily buy the Amazon ones when I’m due for a replacement.)

What about you? Have you bought anything great for $10 or less lately?
