It’s the age-old question of holiday gifting: What do you get for the person who has everything? Even if your recipient’s home is decked out with the latest plant accessories, work-from-home necessities, and pet toys, I can almost guarantee they don’t yet own this fun (and functional!) cantaloupe bowl from Etsy. Recently featured in Apartment Therapy’s gift guide for foodies, it’s become a hit with readers, and it’s easy to see why. Molded from a real cantaloupe, the unique ceramic piece is both colorful and cheery, and it would look just as adorable (adora-bowl?) holding breakfast cereal as it would displayed on your countertop.

I’m currently living with my parents, and my dad is usually the first one awake. One of his morning rituals is to cut up fruit and leave it on the kitchen counter for the rest of us to enjoy when we wake up. Cantaloupe is one of his favorites, and this bowl couldn’t be more perfect for him. Of course, you’re not limited to using it just for melon; the eye-catching piece can decorate a breakfast nook, hold snacks and dips for Netflix binges, or simply serve as a fun addition to any kitchenware collection.

Like me, Etsy shoppers agree that the cantaloupe bowl makes a perfect present. “I bought these bowls as a gift and the recipient was thrilled with them,” said one reviewer, specifically calling out that the bowls have the “perfect cantaloupe rind texture on the outer side.” Another happy customer confirmed that their purchase was big a hit, too. “My family member who received them couldn’t stop oohing and ahhing.”

The cantaloupe bowl is food and dishwasher safe, but take care not to use it in the microwave, in the oven, or on a stovetop. If you’re planning on gifting it for the December holidays, contact the seller directly first: Orders shipped now are not guaranteed to arrive in time.
