Best Advice For Living Without a Stove for 2 Months?

Q: The utility company is doing repair work on the gas lines in my apartment building for the next six to eight weeks. My stove and oven will be out of commission, and I'm at a loss — I'm a grad student and can't afford to eat out every meal! I'm thinking of investing in a portable two-burner stove or a slow-cooker. Any advice?

I don't have a ton of counter space. I imagine those undergoing a kitchen renovation have faced similar issues, and would love to know what (relatively low-budget) products or methods have worked for others. Help! Thanks!

Editor: I heartily recommend a slow cooker — you can even bake bread in it! I also just picked up this 1-burner gas stove and absolutely love it:
