How Do I Eat Healthy on an Extremely Tight Budget?
Q: I am currently on a disability pension and it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to get off of it any time soon.
While I do eat some things out of a can, I am trying not to. I am single and really don’t like spending a lot of time on prep.
I usually try to spend about $50-60 Canadian per week on groceries, with dairy items being quite expensive where I live in Canada (it’s about $3 for a 2L carton of milk and eggs going for about $3-4 per dozen at the store where I shop). I have been buying more fruits and veggies to cut down on costs. I also have blood pressure that is on the low side of high and am also trying to lose some weight.
