Ben & Jerry’s Just Launched 4 New Flavors, and They’re So Good, I Can’t Pick a Favorite
Ben & Jerry’s pints have become a mainstay in grocery store freezer aisles. The brand is known for its creative flavor combos that are chock-full of delicious mix-ins. While you could easily scoop some in a bowl, many prefer to just dig straight in with a spoon while binge-watching Netflix on the couch (myself included).
Well, the brand’s latest launch actually might make you rummage around for that ice cream scoop. For the first time ever, Ben & Jerry’s is introducing four Scoop-apalooza flavors in hefty 28-ounce containers (which are a whopping 75 percent larger than the standard pints). As one of our editor’s moms says, “It’s about time!”
Ahead of the launch, we spent an afternoon with Sean Greenwood, director of public relations and communications and a longtime Ben & Jerry’s employee (we’re talking decades), to learn about — and, of course, sample — each and every one of the brand’s new flavors, including a few that will be released later this year. (I know, I know, we really get to call it work!) Here’s our honest review.
What You Should Know About Ben & Jerry’s Scoop-apalooza
The containers are extra large, but the flavors — Vanilla & Fudge Brownie, Strawberries & Cream, Chocolate & Fudge Swirl, and Coffee & Fudge Chip — are decidedly more moderate than what B&J’s fans have come to expect. “The idea was let’s do something a little more elegant,” says Greenwood. “Something you put next to a piece of cake or pie that won’t overpower it.”
Inspired by more group hangs, each Ben & Jerry’s Scoop-apalooza contains around five scoops (2/3 cup each) and are priced between $7.49 and $9.99 per container. They’re available in grocery stores nationwide on January 14.

My Honest Review of Ben & Jerry’s Scoop-apalooza
Eager to dig in, we started with the Vanilla & Fudge Brownie made with creamy vanilla ice cream and rich chunks of Greyston Bakery fudge brownies.
B&J’s vanilla ice cream was a recent runner-up in our vanilla ice cream taste test, so we weren’t too surprised to find this thick, vanilla-kissed base provides the perfect backdrop for the ooey-gooey brownie bites, which Mara, our senior editor, groceries, says “are just one step above batter” (a high compliment!). “This needs an award — stat,” echoed Ola, our culinary assistant.
Next, we moved on to Strawberries & Cream made with sweet cream ice cream and strawberry swirls. Equally as delicious, the strawberry flavor was prominent and fresh, like the fruit had just been picked off the bush.
We followed that up with the Chocolate & Fudge Swirl. Deep, rich chocolate ice cream is swirled with thick ribbons of fudge. The “very silky” swirls, says Vicky, our studio director, taste like the fudgy inside of a fancy truffle. It is one super-decadent flavor.
Finally, we sampled Coffee & Fudge Chip, which features coffee ice cream (made with Blk & Bold’s blend) and a generous amount of fudge chips (classic Ben & Jerry’s). Let me tell ya — this will wake you up! The coffee flavor is strong, and bits of chocolate chips in every bite provide even more flavor and texture.
