Before & After: Bright and Tiny Studio Kitchen

Take a look at this amazing kitchen renovation from Francesca, an interior designer who also sent us this glamorous kitchen remodel. This time she tackled a tiny kitchen in a 400-square-foot studio, and the results are stunning!

This kitchen belongs to a 400 sq. foot studio apartment in the Upper East Side. Francesca's client was a young, single, working professional. This kitchen is now her favorite room in the apartment! Francesca says that the goal was to expand the kitchen and introduce modern functionality, like the dishwasher — which was on the top of the client's wish list.

By using stainless steel appliances and an industrial style light fixture the kitchen was designed to feel like it belongs in a loft rather than a 400 sq. foot studio. The kitchen has no natural light, so Francesca chose white cabinets to make it bright, and a glass backsplash to reflect light and give the illusion that the kitchen is deeper than it actually is. Porcelain tiles on the floor and the Corian countertop make the kitchen low maintenance and practical for a fast paced lifestyle. The end result is a small kitchen with high style and functionality!

Francesca completely gutted the entire apartment, so she was able to open up a wall to slightly expand the kitchen and rearrange the appliances. The appliances are all General Electric. The range and bottom freezer refrigerator are 24" and dishwasher is 18".

It's a lovely renovation, and it looks like a great place to cook — congratulations to the client, and to Francesca too.
