Before & After: An Interior Designer Remodels Her Own Kitchen
What happens when you help people remodel their homes all day long? Either you have an amazingly fabulous house, or you have a work in progress that you’re renovating as well.
The latter was true for Traci Connell, an interior designer in Texas, whose new kitchen was in definite need of some updating. While it was functional, it needed a more contemporary look, and the storage needed to be more efficient. Take a look at how Traci changed up her space!
Somehow even with the larger island counter and additional overhead cabinets, the switch to white actually makes this kitchen feel bigger. One of the elements that we especially love in this space is the upper cabinets which seem to almost glow with the semi-opaque fronts. This was a detail that Traci had added to several clients’ homes before incorporating it into her own.
The other element that really opened up the kitchen was the fact that Traci removed the wall separating it from the rest of the living space. She opted to go with arched openings in order to keep the support beam as part of the decor.
We think it looks great and can imagine Traci and her family enjoying plenty of fantastic meals here. To see more photos of the transformation, visit Traci’s blog, Connell Interiors.
