Oh man, we love kitchen renovations! It's such a treat to see a transformation, especially when it's as good as this one. Want to see how reader Annie transformed her little bungalow kitchen? Read on!

Annie writes:

In 2008, shortly after getting married, my husband and I took on a complete remodel of our home in Morro Bay, CA. The house was one of the first built in the area, and was originally used by the military. My husband's grandparents purchased the house in the 1960s for $6500, and we were blessed to receive it as a gift from them after we were married (they still have a vacation home right next door).

We took the house down to bare studs and started from scratch (keeping the basic layout). It took us exactly six months to the day from demolition to move in - new roof, plumbing, electrical, floors, insulation, drywall, siding... you name it, we did it! Cost of the kitchen was between $25 and 30K of our total budget.

The after photo was taken while we were still moving back in, so please excuse the boxes!

Great job, Annie! What a gift that is, to receive a house. I really like how the original (and spacious!) shape of the kitchen has been preserved, while turning the whole thing into a more modern, pleasant place to cook and entertain.
