Before & After: A 1980s Dusty Rose Relic Gets a Mod Makeover
When reader Rhea sent us her photos, she had to scrounge for before shots because she made it a point to update the dusty rose and beige kitchen as soon as possible. And we can’t say that we blame her.
The transformation of Rhea’s kitchen is absolutely stunning, and filled with so much color.
A kitchen that once looked like it belonged to a grandma in a bad 80s movie, now looks fresh, modern, and most of all colorful! We especially love the cabinets, which are vintage metal cabinets from the 1940s. Rhea had them painted her favorite shade of turquoise at an auto body shop. Such a smart idea!
Rhea also replaced the windows that overlooked a patio with French doors so she could let in both light and fresh air. Not to mention, making it easier to pop outside to enjoy a morning cup of coffee.
The large round mirror in place of the backsplash is another way to add a lot of light to the kitchen. We love how it also reflects the dishes on the open shelving. Rhea’s collection of Fiestaware is one of the things that makes her kitchen so colorful! Let’s get a better look at it.
Such a bright cheery kitchen!
