The “Beautiful” Drew Barrymore Coffee Maker I Use Every Morning (and Why I Love It!)

Choosing a new coffee maker is always a bit nerve-wracking. Since my morning cup is non-negotiable, I can’t risk a machine that brews poorly, malfunctions often, or simply doesn’t work right. Quite literally, my morning brain can’t handle that, which is why my previous drip coffee maker was as basic as they come — just a button to brew, no fancy tech for me! However, Drew Barrymore’s Beautiful line (available at Walmart) is so aesthetically pleasing that it tempted me to be a bit more adventurous with my morning ritual. And fortunately, it paid off.

This 14-Cup Programmable Drip Coffee Maker not only matches the performance of my old one, but surpasses it. I can schedule it to brew at any time (and to shut off), choose my desired strength, pause and serve, and much more. It even includes a reusable filter basket, saving me from buying paper filters. Not only is this coffee maker a looker, but it’s also super functional. And really, that’s all I can ask for! 

This coffee machine is pretty, yes, but does it perform? Well, I’m here to tell you it does (thank goodness). I followed the instructions, washed all the detachables, and brewed two cups of water to cleanse the machine before using it. I’m proud to report: My coffee has been flowing smoothly ever since! It took a few trials and errors to figure out the touch screen (it does make me a little nervous that you have to hit the brew/off button every time you touch it to program something, as opposed to just an on/off button), but you get used to operating it very quickly. Other than that, I love its features. It can:

• Brew your coffee up to 24 hours ahead, so it’s ready when you are.
• Has preferred brew strengths whether you like it regular, gourmet, or bold.
• Comes with a charcoal water filter to ensure freshness (though I probably won’t be using it, since I trust my tap water).
• Has a pause-and-serve feature to enjoy a cup mid-brew.
• Includes a touch display that shows the time. 
• Keeps coffee tasting top-notch with its special cleaning cycle.
• Can be kept warm for up to four hours.
• Comes with a scoop for your coffee. 
• Has a reusable coffee basket (although you can use a paper filter if you like).
• Includes a dishwasher-safe glass carafe for easy cleaning.

Basically, this coffee maker is the real deal — just note that it’s BIG. I was lucky to fit it under my cabinets; it’s about 15 inches tall, so be aware of that before you make a purchase.

As I mentioned earlier, my previous drip coffee maker was as basic as they come. I chose it for that reason, but the features of Drew Barrymore’s Beautiful drip coffee maker admittedly make life easier. My favorite part is programming my coffee to brew in the morning so that I have to do absolutely nothing when I wake up (it’s the best). I also love that it’s a 14-cup size, larger than the standard 12-cup size, so when I have guests over, it’s quick and easy to make a batch. Additionally, its hot plate can be programmed to stay on for up to four hours — which is longer than the usual two hours typical drip coffee makers have — and counts up on the touch display after it’s done brewing so you know how long it’s been. A small but nice detail is that its reusable coffee basket has a flat bottom, allowing it to stand up on your counter as you fill it. Truthfully, it’s the little things that make this coffee maker so special — and let’s not forget how beautiful it is!
