Anything that starts with shrimp, garlic, and butter is virtually guaranteed to be good, and this recipe is an easy way to make some standout shrimp in just a few minutes in the oven. It’s fast enough for a weeknight, or even an “I’m hungry, what’s in the house?” meal, but if you dress it up and serve it alongside a nice homemade steak, it’s also fancy enough for a special occasion.

The recipe starts with raw shrimp, peeled and deveined. Smear some softened butter on the bottom of a baking dish, and sprinkle the butter with crushed garlic. Lay the shrimp out on top of the butter and garlic. You don’t need to mix them, but try not to let the shrimp overlap or they might not cook evenly.

Bake the shrimp for about seven minutes, flip them in the now-melted butter, and slide the dish back into the oven for about seven more, or until the shrimp are done. When you take the shrimp out of the oven, garnish them with a bit of fresh or dried parsley, and they’re finished. That’s genuinely all there is to it, though the author does suggest adding some fresh lemon juice if you like. (Fresh lemon juice does make most things taste especially good, and it seems like a very good idea here.)

You could serve this dish as an appetizer, or use the garlicky butter sauce as a dipping sauce for good bread. It’s a main course! It’s a side dish! It’s a pasta sauce! Shrimp with butter and garlic is everything.
