Yesterday I was in Florida, where a cold Frappuccino would seem like a GREAT idea. Today I am back in Chicago, and while I was surely the only person ordering a frigid beverage from a barista today in the city, I didn’t mind taking on a taste-test challenge and trying another cool, intricate “secret” drink.

This one is called “The Baby Yoda,” inspired by Star Wars, and it’s been going viral. Created by Totallythebomb.com, the folks behind the Jack Skellington and Sally Frappuccino, it’s green and brown to resemble Baby Yoda and his coat.

When I saw it, I was skeptical — I don’t like caramel, but I do love matcha — so it was a toss-up for how well it’d be received.

How to Order the Baby Yoda Frappuccino

The drink is pretty simple to order — although I will say it is expensive! A tall Frappuccino was over $6! Now maybe I don’t know typical Frappuccino costs at Starbucks, but it seems like a lot to pay for an everyday type of drink, especially since you’d likely want a larger size if you end up loving the concoction.

Still though, perhaps it’s worth it to you! To order, ask for a Matcha Frappuccino, with some caramel drizzle first on the bottom of the cup, then some whipped cream on top with more caramel drizzle down the sides and on top. Lastly, you’d add on the caramel crunchies (your Starbucks will probably have them) for that extra sweetness and crisp texture.

As for my thoughts? I wasn’t a fan.

To be fair I don’t like caramel, and it’s super heavy on the caramel flavor, making it awfully sweet. I love matcha, so I enjoyed the middle section that wasn’t too caramel-like, but once you stir it to blend it in better, that caramel comes out and overpowers the bitterness (or lesser sweetness) of matcha. I liked The Joker Frappuccino WAY more, since it paired chocolate and strawberry instead, two things I also love.

Yet, I gave the rest of it to a friend at my office and he LOVED it. So, I’d say DO NOT go off of my opinion if you like caramel sauce, as it might become your new go-to drink. (To drink while watching Star Wars, of course.)
