About Me
Kathleen Purvis is a longtime journalist based in Charlotte, NC, who covers food, travel, beverages and Southern food culture. She’s the author of three books, “Pecans” and “Bourbon” in the Savor the South series from UNC Press, and “Distilling the South,” on touring Southern craft distilleries, and her work has been in numerous editions of the anthologies “Best Food Writing” and “Cornbread Nation.” She was a longtime award committee member for the James Beard Foundation, an officer and longtime member of the Association of Food Journalists, and a member of the Southern Foodways Alliance.
