About Me
The Australian-Japanese foodwriter, Emiko Davies has spent most of her life living abroad – after an adolescence in China, she gained a university degree in the United States and, for over a decade, now calls Italy home.
She fell in love with Florence as a twenty-something art restoration student, soaking in the Florentine lifestyle and learning Italian along the way. Then she met Marco, a sommelier, who shared her lifelong passion for cooking and traveling. In 2010 Emiko began a dream project — a food blog sprinkled with her own photographs, where she could tell the true stories behind regional and historical Italian dishes from the point of view of a foreigner living in Italy. She soon caught the eye of Food52 co-founder Amanda Hesser who called her the “Renaissance woman for the internet era.”
Emiko continues to develop recipes and write about food and travel for her blog, her cookbooks as well as for publications such as Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, The Guardian, Gourmet Traveller, Conde Nast Traveller and more. Her third cookbook after Florentine and Acquacotta, is Tortellini at Midnight. She lives in Tuscany with her husband, Marco, and their two daughters.
