About Me
Andrew X. Pham is the author of Catfish and Mandala and The Eaves of Heaven. He is also an independent writer, journalist, restaurant critic, and former aircraft engineer. At various periods in his life, he has worked as a technical writer, translator, internet startup founder, farmer, pizza chef, bungalow builder, small business owner, a literary panelist, and an MFA faculty. He is a Whiting Writer and a Guggenheim Fellow. He is the winner of the Kiriyama Prize and a National Book Critics Circle Award Finalist. His books have been on eight Top Ten Books of the Year lists. He is an active cyclist, tennis player, and paraglider pilot. An amateur brewer and winemaker, he is a fan of alcoholic beverages and every type of cuisine. He divides his time among California, Hawaii, and Thailand. He lives with his wife, two dogs, and two cats on a small organic farm in Northeast Thailand.
