Wait, Are Eggs Actually Good for You? Even Experts Can’t Agree.
The great breakfast debate has been raging for years: Are eggs, a nationwide breakfast staple, actually healthy? Eggs are protein-packed, but also high in cholesterol. And because many people eat them every morning for breakfast, it’s important to understand if eggs are helping or harming our health. In 2016, it seemed as though the debate had finally been settled: The suggested limit on dietary cholesterol in the U.S.

Don’t Let the “Dirty Dozen” Scare You Away from Conventional Produce
Every year the Environmental Working Group (EWG) puts out two lists meant to flag the most “dirty” (or pesticide-ridden) fruits and vegetables, ostensibly the ones where you’re best off investing in organic instead. The “Dirty Dozen” lists 12 conventionally grown fruits and veggies with the highest concentrations of pesticide residue after washing, while the “Clean Fifteen” lists 15 with the lowest concentrations.

Your Leftover Rice Could Be Making You Sick. (Put It in the Fridge Faster!)
Where in the world would we be without rice? It’s a cheap dinner staple that makes our meals feel more filling and it’s delicious when fried with lots of vegetables. It’s a totally essential pantry ingredient for many different types of cuisines and diets (get some ideas here). In fact, there’s a good chance that you have a bag or two of different kinds of rice in your pantry right now.

One in Five Deaths Around the World Can Be Linked to Poor Diet
When it comes to eating healthfully, it turns out that it’s not really about what you’re not eating, but more about what you are eating. A study in the medical journal The Lancet shows that premature deaths around the world are caused by the low intake of healthful foods. What that means is, while having too much processed meat or sugary drinks in our diet isn’t great, it’s worse if you don’t have enough whole grains, nuts, and fruit in your diet as well.

This Is Ina Garten’s Ultimate Go-To Weeknight Dinner (Besides Roast Chicken)
Ina Garten might be the most consistent food personality on God’s green earth. In this uncertain world, her steadfastness is something I and so many others seem to just crave. Despite the fact that deep down we always know what she’s going to say, we clamor to her every word, recipe, cookbook, TV episode, and, of course, Instagram post. Because of this, we were not surprised in the slightest when our Queen took to Instagram to declare her favorite weeknight dinner: Parmesan Chicken.

How a Couple Cuts Their Wedding Cake Might Show How Long the Marriage Will Last
Like many 30-somethings, I have gathered my fair share of memories of siblings, cousins, and best friends exchanging vows with their soul mates. I remember, sometimes through tears, the love and commitment two people shared on that day. Oddly, I cannot recall any instances of the mostly American tradition of two new spouses feeding cake to each other. (This is probably because I am usually asking someone what flavor the cake is and if I am allowed to break out my Tupperware at this time.

5 Colorblocked Kitchens That Take Their Inspiration from Fashion
We know that interior styles can follow the more nimble fashion world. So, following the return of colorblocking being cool for clothing, it’s no wonder we’re also seeing the trend in kitchens! Kitchens actually lend themselves quite well to the look. Cabinets are modular by nature, providing a natural grid on which to colorblock. We like the look best with a clean, white backdrop and a few touches of color here and there.

Kitchen Before & After: An Apartment-Sized Kitchen Gets a Quirky Makeover
When Emily and her partner Erica bought their 1900s Greek revival home in Providence, Rhode Island, the house had been divided up into two apartments. Meaning that this small apartment-sized kitchen was in need of a major update. And because they were doing a top-to-bottom renovation to combine the two units into a single-family home, Emily and Erica had to be creative to stay under budget.

How a Long Window Can Make a Good Kitchen View Even Better
If you should find yourself in the fortunate position of adding on a kitchen or building a new house, I want to put an idea out there: horizontal windows. Out of all the spaces in your home, a long, low strip of horizontal windows is perfect for the kitchen. Here’s why. When you’re in the kitchen, you’re often bustling about. From refrigerator to counter to stove and back, the kitchen is the one room that’s mainly about moving instead of remaining in one place.

No Window Over the Kitchen Sink? Hang a Mirror!
I’ve always loved a window over the kitchen sink. My grandparents’ house had one; my parents’ house does, too. It’s a wonderful detail that provides a pastime while doing the dishes. So, what to do when you find yourself (somehow!) in a home without a window above the sink? Try a mirror!

Before & After: A Dark 1960s Kitchen Gets a Bright $185 Facelift
We love a good budget remodel, and that’s exactly what Kaitlin and her husband sent us. The newlyweds bought their home about a month after they tied the knot and, like many of our readers, the first project they tackled was the kitchen and the attached breakfast nook. Check out how they took it from dark and drab to bright and clean without spending more than $200. The biggest change to the space is obviously the paint job on the cabinets.
