Is Ice Cream “Cake” Actually Cake?
I think everyone can agree that ice cream birthday cake, if anything, is a bunch of delicious words and ideas stuck together. But what seems to be a point of contention is what actually constitutes an ice cream cake. Is it ice cream and cake? Or is it just ice cream you can slice? I want to know. This exact discussion erupted recently when Tastemade posted a recipe for an ice cream birthday cake on Twitter that people had a lot of strong opinions about.

These 20-Minute Shrimp Tacos Are an Easy Weeknight Win
I just moved to Los Angeles from New York, which means most of my diet right now consists of tacos. Sure, I ate my fair share of tacos while I was living in Brooklyn, but they weren’t necessarily an entire food group that I made sure to hit at least once a day (no really, I’m serious). You see, tacos are a perfect food. The limit of their potential does not exist. You start with a good base (tortilla) and you build from there.

These Are the Chocolate Brownies You Need to Make Right Now
I am always on the hunt for the perfect brownie recipe. It needs to be just the right balance between chewy and crispy and it needs to be deeply, deeply chocolate-y. But I also think there’s a nostalgia factor I’m chasing. I remember being four years old at school and having the lunch lady give me a corner piece from a giant sheet of powdered-sugar-laden brownies and thinking it was the absolute best thing I had consumed.

Keep Movie Night Simple and Serve This Easy Soup
You’ve decided to watch a movie tonight at the coziest theater in town: your living room. You’re into it, your partner’s into it, and the kids are…well, they’re not actively fighting it, which counts as a win. But even if everyone has put their phones on silent, wrapped themselves in their own blanket, and called dibs on a particular side of the sofa, you still have to deal with the hardest part: deciding what to watch.

Why You Should Throw Out Your Oven Thermometer
The cake that sunk in the middle or cracked on the top. The roast that came out too rare or dry as a bone. I feel your pain. So, what do you do? Chances are, you run out and buy an oven thermometer the first chance you get. Then, you determine that the actual temperature doesn’t match the one you’ve selected. Next step? You adjust future recipes by upping or lowering the temp setting because you now know that your oven runs hot or cold. Common sense, right? Not so fast.

The 5 Smart Food Choices That Are Helping Me Pay Off My Student Loans
I grew up in a fairly frugal household — my parents prioritized their spending, brown-bagging their lunches for work every day and skipping out on “extras” like cable TV. Although I had a solidly middle-class childhood (I enjoyed more than my fair share of family vacations and was gifted a used car upon getting my driver’s license), we exclusively shopped on sales racks and rarely ordered anything other than water to drink when we went out to dinner.
