The Top 10 Birthday Gifts for Folks with February Birthdays
Stumped on what to buy your loved ones with February birthdays? After all, your best friend probably just finished exchanging all of her holiday gifts for things she actually wants. What else could she need this time of year?
We turned to astrologer Karen Christino, author of Your Wedding Astrologer: How to Plan the Perfect Wedding Based on Your Zodiac Sign, and asked her to bring her cosmic wisdom to the table and provide some spot-on sign recommendations for Aquarius and Pisces. Here’s what she had to suggest.
1. Prosecco Pong Drinking Game, $25 at World Market
Appeal to Aquarius’ chill, inclusive side with a prosecco pong set. Fun + Friends = The Best Birthday Activity for this air sign. Bonus points if you bring a bottle, too.
2. Sea Wave Classic Apron, $84 at Hedley & Bennett
Your February-born friend is going to love this apron — bold colors, subtle ocean motif, a smartphone chest pocket? It was practically made for a water baby Pisces or a tech-loving Aquarius.
3. Fleur De Sel Hand Soap & Lotion Set, $40 at Williams-Sonoma
Christino says the best Pisces gifts are ones that “feed their soul.” Strive for something self-care and water-related, like this pretty soap-and-lotion combo. All that dishwashing and cooking can take a toll, and keeping this nourishing set sink-side, in a pretty copper caddy no less, will help her repair those dry hands.
4. ChefSteps Joule Sous Vide, from $179
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Aquarians are total gear heads, especially when it comes to cutting-edge gadgets for the kitchen. That’s why, if they don’t have one already, they need a Joule sous vide, which is smaller and faster than other machines on the market. It even integrates with Amazon’s Alexa devices.
5. Stemless Wine Glasses, $120 for a set of 4 at Etsy
“Pisces definitely enjoy fine wines,” says Christino. So give yours a set of these stemless diamond-patterned wine glasses. They’re blown, shaped, cut, and polished by hand — and the dimpled geometric pattern is designed to allow a favorite red or white to open up and breathe.
6. SMEG 2-Slice Toaster, $150 at Williams-Sonoma
Aquarians absolutely appreciate things with vintage appeal. If you can’t make it to a flea market to find an old kitchen scale or set of canisters, Christino suggests a retro countertop appliance from SMEG. It’ll set you back, but your Aquarius will be over the moon. Go for something bright, she says, over black or stainless — the candy apple red toaster is quite the cutie.
7. Luxe Lines Printed Napkins, $34 for four at West Elm
Pisces can get pretty romantic, so Christino recommends a nice lace table runner or set of shimmery napkins like these West Elm ones.
8. VitaJuwel ViA GemWater Bottle, $78
Both February signs are super into astrology and the psychic, mystical world. So if you can’t gift an aura or tarot card reading, this fancy water bottle with crystals in it should do. They’d never spend that much for themselves, but trust — they’ll be all about the idea of drinking in the rocks’ good vibes.
9. Graphite Mixing Bowls, $43 for three at Crate & Barrel
Christino says stainless steel objects of all kinds are appealing to Aquarius. These mixing bowls have a matte graphite exterior and stainless steel on the inside, making them super useful in the kitchen and pretty enough to sit on the table during a dinner party.
10. Collapsible Storage Set at Boon Supply, $28 for three at Boon Supply
“The thought is what counts most to Pisces,” says Christino. So any gift that gives back, like this collapsible silicone storage set that’s freezer-, microwave- and dishwasher-safe, will hit the spot. More than a third of the cost goes to a charity of your choice — so make it something near and dear to your Pisces’ heart.
