The 2-Ingredient Tequila Cocktail Andy Cohen Is Drinking All Summer Long (It’s So Smart!)

Andy Cohen keeps a busy schedule. The host of the juicy late-night talk show on Bravo, Watch What Happens Live, recently celebrated its 15th anniversary on June 30 complete with an array of celebrity guests, (including his parents), and a recap of the wildest segments the show has done over the years. 

No stranger to the party scene, Cohen loves a good cocktail and recently partnered with Fresca Mixed to promote its new vodka spritz flavors: Watermelon Citrus, Black Cherry Citrus, Orange Citrus, and Peach Citrus (the last being his favorite). 

Through the partnership, he’s created a virtual country club where members can enter sweepstakes to win fabulous prizes like a fancy ice kit with gold leaf-infused ice cubes and a chance to meet him at a party in Montauk. “I am an ice queen. I’m a little Heather Dubrow in terms of my ice love if you get the reference,” Cohen tells The Kitchn. While the sweepstakes has since closed, members have more giveaways to look forward to throughout the summer. 

When Cohen’s not doing his show, connecting with the Real Housewives for another reunion, or hosting parties in the Hamptons, he’s at home spending time with his two kids, son Benjamin and daughter, Lucy. So we were curious what he eats to keep him on the go. 

For this edition of Cooking Diary, Andy Cohen shares the snacks he always has stocked in his kitchen, who he’d invite to the ultimate dinner party, and which housewife is the most fun to drink with. 

On an average morning, what do you normally have for breakfast?

Typically I just have a piece of dry toast. Then when I do radio, I have a scooped out bagel with egg whites. 

Any coffee?

I am an English breakfast tea guy.

What about a go-to lunch?

Usually just a turkey sandwich of some sort. Very boring.

And for dinner?

Well, I mean, it depends on the night and where I’m going and what I’m doing. It also depends on my meal [plan]. If I’m on a little meal plan, then it’s going to be high protein and fish or something like that. But it just depends. Tonight I’m going to this restaurant, Brandy. I’ll probably have a Bibb lettuce salad and sliced steak.

What’s something you always have to have stocked either in the pantry or fridge?

I always have to have green apples, dark chocolate, honey roasted turkey, and tuna salad. Those are my snacky items. 

Is there any food that you think is really overrated? Or something that’s super trendy and you don’t get the hype?

I’m not a huge cronut guy. Like those croissants that have chocolate chip cookie dough on them. Just because something’s on TikTok doesn’t mean that we should all be eating it. 

What is your go-to summer cocktail?

It’s usually a tequila and Fresca. That’s what I’ve been drinking for years.

You’re hosting the ultimate dinner party. Who are you inviting?

I’d say Porsha Williams, Hillary Clinton, Madonna, Bevy Smith, Beyoncé, Victoria Beckham, and David Beckham. 

What would you have on the menu?

I keep it pretty simple. I like bruschetta. I’m a huge mushroom fan so any kind of mushroom-based appetizer. Or I love salmon. I like some good proteins, a really great pasta, and some really good Brussels sprouts. Maybe some grilled broccoli. I love corn when it’s in season. I’m a pretty simple guy.

Do you have a big sweet tooth or anything for dessert?

I have a major sweet tooth. I’m a major ice cream guy. I’m a major chocolate chip cookie guy, and I love dark chocolate. 

Do you have a favorite brand of dark chocolate?

Li-Lac is the best local chocolate place in New York City, and they ship nationwide. I absolutely love them. 

Which of the Bravo housewives would you say is the most fun to party or drink with?

I’m gonna say Porsha.

If you’ve been out all night, what are you having as a late night snack?

Oh my god. I mean, last night I got home and I had a full dinner at Via Carota. But I had one too many rosés. Of course, then I ate pizza that I had leftover from Emmett’s. It’s just so dangerous for me to have pizza in my refrigerator. But I love Emmett’s on Grove. It’s my new go-to pizza place in the city.
