Hope and Pete’s recent House Tour on Apartment Therapy is bright, colorful, and full of personality befitting the couple’s “laid-back bohemian aesthetic.” What really caught my attention, though, was their kitchen storage setup.

IKEA’s Expedit bookshelf has been around for what seems like ages, but I can’t say I’ve seen it used very much in the kitchen. How is that possible? Just look at how perfect the cubbies are for storing small appliances, dishes, and kitchen baskets!

This is a tidy, attractive way to do open storage. The cubbies are the right size to hold certain small appliances like a slow cooker, juicer, and food processor, while we spy a few baskets with linens, dishes, jars, and utensils.

There are a few pretty decorative items as well to break up the utility, like the platter in the upper righthand cubby. Such a great balance of function and fancy! We love it.
