The 5 Best Things to Buy from Amazon’s Weirdly Cheap New Brand
Amazon has seriously upped its grocery game over the past few years. In addition to acquiring Whole Foods last year, the e-commerce giant has launched programs like Prime Pantry and Amazon Fresh, which deliver fresh fruits, vegetables, and toiletries straight to your doorstep. But why stop there? Amazon even cut out the middleman by launching their own private-label companies.
We’ve already talked about how much we love Presto and Wickedly Prime. And now there’s a new private-label brand we’re crushing on: Solimo.
“Our Solimo line offers a variety of everyday goods at a just-right price,” Amazon says on its site. “Cart to finish, we help you shop simply and get on with your day.”
From cheese crackers to trash bags, Solimo has everything you’d normally buy at the grocery store — but for less. One hundred instant coffee pods for $34? That’s a lot cheaper that your morning Starbucks run. And even other coffee pods!
Of course, trying new products can always been hit or miss — especially when you’ve been using the same, reliable ones for years. The folks behind Solimo know you’re taking a a chance on them, and promise to “make things right” should you be unsatisfied with your order. And we’ve picked out some of our favorite products from the brand to help you, too.
1. Solimo Dark Roast Coffee Pods, $34 for 100 count
These pods are way cheaper than other pods. Even if you drink two a day, that’s still under a dollar a day you’d be spending on coffee. And they taste good: They feature 100% Arabica beans and make a brew that’s dark with a smooth finish.
2. Solimo Macaroni & Cheese, $5 for six, 7.25-ounce boxes
One Amazon reviewer did a blind taste with this and a box of the iconic Kraft stuff. The verdict: “No one could tell any difference at all.” At less than a dollar a box, why not stock up?
3. Solimo Chocolate Slims Sandwich Crème Cookies, $3 for 10.9 ounces
While Oreo and Hydrox fight it out, we’ll be over here eating these chocolate sandwich cookies. They’re a near-exact match for Oreos, only they’re a bit thinner.
4. Solimo Organic Coconut Oil, $6.50 for 15 ounces
Coconut oil is notoriously pricey, as some companies charge up to $20 per jar. At $6.47, Solimo offers a lot of bang for your buck.
5. Solimo 30-Gallon Multipurpose Drawstring Trash Bags, $11 for 50
Of course, Solimo doesn’t only sell delicious food. You can get plenty of household items, like hand soap, plastic cups, and trash bags, as well.
