You don't have to wait until Black Friday for the best deals online. For the second year in a row, Amazon is holding Prime Day — which started today at 3 a.m. ET — and if it is anything like last year, you're going to want to be a part of it. Over 100,000 deals will roll out throughout the day. Here's everything you need to know ahead of time.

1. First, we don't know what's going to be on sale.

We don't know what's going to be on sale ahead of time, so it's important to keep checking back on a regular basis, or setting up alerts, to see what deals will be available.

2. You're going to need a Prime account to participate.

In order to get in on any of the deals from Prime Day, you're going to need a Prime account. It's currently $99 a year, but you can also sign up for a free 30-day trial and still reap the rewards.

3. Deals will roll out throughout the day.

According to CNN, there will be three different types of deals rolling out throughout the day: Spotlight deals, Lightning Deals, and Saving and Deals. Spotlight Deals will be the best deals of the day, and Lightning Deals will be deals that are only available for a limited time.

Make sure to set up alerts to get in on the Lightning Deals.

4. More small businesses will be involved this year.

According to Amazon, there is a 100 percent increase in sellers and small businesses for Prime Day this year. Yes, you can feel good about shopping.

5. Free same-day delivery is available.

If you're in one of 27 cities, you can get your deals delivered in the same day on qualifying purchases over $35.

6. You can order stuff from Alexa.

This year you can order things through Alexa! In fact, you'll get $10 off your first purchase when you order through her. All you have to do is say,"Alexa, what are your Prime Day deals?"

7. The deals have already started.

While the big day is technically on July 12, Amazon has been rolling out daily deals in advance of Prime Day. Today's deal is called "Endless Summer" — make sure to check out the deals as they roll in.
