Not totally sold on the need for an Amazon Prime membership? Look, we get it. A hundred bucks is a lot to spend if you're just looking to get free, two-day shipping on certain items. How do you feel about spending $49, though?
The bulk shopping website, Boxed, is hoping you feel good about it!
The site, which we've written about before (get a refresh here), just launched a new program today.
Officially called Boxed Up, it's got a $49 annual membership fee and it gets shoppers free priority shipping (whereas non-members only get free shipping if the order totals $49 or more). Other membership perks include 2% cash rewards on purchases, a 15% discount on Boxed's line of Prince & Spring private-label goods (which we happen to be obsessed with), periodic exclusive offers and discounts, access to enter giveaways for fun prizes (think: Vitamix!), and more. Plus, it comes with a free 30-day trial — just like Amazon Prime.
Don't want to spend $49 on an annual membership either? Don't worry — the company's CEO promised the New York Post that, as long as he was in charge, the site would always be free to use and that the membership fee will never be required. "We designed Boxed Up to be additive to the current Boxed experience, an opt-in membership for loyal customers who want added benefits," a press release explains.
